About the event

Introducing nipaluna/Hobart’s new professional vocal ensemble - Sonus Lux!

Sonus Lux is drawn together by our passion for choral music old and new. Each member contributes to the group with their experiences as conductors, singers and teachers, leading to the delivery of projects that challenge, move, and entertain audiences across Tasmania and themselves.

This new ensemble gathers together musicians of all experiences and musical backgrounds. In its inaugural performance, Sonus Lux will feature sopranos Madeleine Dyer and Grace Ovens, altos Sebastian Allen and Tess Archer, tenors Alexander Rodrigues and Simon Milton, and basses Jonathan Wallis and Matthew Anning. Together, these leading Tasmanian musicians capture soundscapes unlike those seen in nipaluna/Hobart before.

We are excited to embark on this adventure by presenting a programme around our namesake - Sonus Lux (sound of light). Curated and directed by Sebastian Allen (alto), ‘Resounding Light’ draws on works from composers abroad and at home…
