Fr Unyime (Paschal) Okpon
Assistant Priest
Fr Unyime (Paschal) Okpon began his priestly formation in 2005, Nigeria with the Servants of Charity congregation and Saint John Bosco Institute of Philosophy, Ibadan. Arriving in Australia in 2013, he spent a period discerning with the Missionaries of God's Love (a Religious Institute of Diocesan Right) in Canberra before being accepted as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Hobart and sent to complete his formation and studies at Corpus Christi Seminary, Melbourne.
He was ordained a deacon on the 24th of September, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Devonport in Tasmania. On the 15th of September 2017, the Feast day of Our Lady of Sorrow Paschal was ordained a Priest of Christ by the Archbishop of Hobart, the Most Rev Julian Porteous DD. Says Fr Okpon “God is my all in all and His love is excess in my life my dream has been to follow him all my life as St. Peter said “Lord to whom shall we go to, you have the word of eternal life” (John 6:68). I want that eternal life for myself and I want to bring everyone I meet to that eternal life too’.
